Shooting Wraps On Mark Harris The Broken

After a 6-week shoot in London and the USA Mark Harris scripted The Broken has now official finished  filming and principal photogaphy. The Broken is a thriller of international variety with locations varying from the sun drenched Sunset Boulevard, slums of Los Angeles to the streets of Lambeth in London. The international  label isn't just with the films locations The Broken stars a host of international acting talent including Mark Harris (Outside Bet, Offender), Felix Ryan (NCIS), Kyle Summercorn (Misfits), Rhea Bailey (The Mentalist)and Deji Laray (CSI: NY).
Synopsis :After the loss of his beloved son and a traumatic term in prison, all Matt Hollis wants is to be reunited with his estranged wife, Alison and daughter Lara. Certain that a break is all that they need to get back on track, Matt scrapes together enough money to take the family to America.

In LA, the Hollis’ find themselves in a palatial holiday home that seems too good to be true. Everything is perfect until, one night Alison is savagely beaten and Lara taken from her bed.

Terrified that he is about to lose his family all over again, Matt is desperate to find his daughter and makes contact with his old friend Syan who suggests that Lara may be the victim of an illegal child adoption ring. With the police on their tail, the two men embark in pursuit of Lara’s kidnappers and uncover a prolific ring of traffickers who sell innocent children to the highest bidder, servicing even the highest echelons of society’s elite.

Already sold to a childless couple, Lara will soon be lost and Matt and Syan must reach her before she becomes another victim of the trafficking trade.
The Broken is set for a August release in UK&Ireland ,The film is written by Marc Small and Davie Fairbanks and is based on an original story by Mark Harris. The feature will be directed by Simon Phillips (GBH). The Broken also stars Anna NightingaleHonor Kneafsey and Rita Ramnani

TheMOET British Independent Movie Awards 2011 Winners Annouced Busy Night For THE KINGS SPEECH & MONSTERS

As Tron Legacy had its freezing cold UK premiere in London Leciester Square the annual British independent Movie Awards sponsored by Moet  took place in the The Old Billingate Market in fashionable East London. There was two movies that came out of the night very sucessful, THE KINGS SPEECH and MONSTERS picking up a total of 8 awards between them.

Tobe Hooper's The Kings Speech came out with 5 gongs which included For Best British Independent Film,  Best Screenplay (David Seidler), Best Actor (Colin Firth), Best Supporting Actor (Geoffrey Rush), and Best Supporting Actress (Helena Bonham Carter). 

Gareth Edwards MONSTERS was the other big winner of the night scooping up 3 gongs including best director, best achievement in production and BEST TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT (in visual effects)., Edwards also just missed out on Douglas Hickox award for best debut director which went to The Abor's Clio Banard,

In other awards  Carey Mulligan  won th Best Actress for Never Let Me Go, with Helena Boham Carter picking up another gong  with the the Richard Harris award for outstanding contribution by an actor to British film, while Liam Neeson received the Variety award. Joanne Froggat picked up most promising newcomer for her part in In Our Name and A Prophet for best foreign Movie.

Le Greenboy And Dirtygirl Short

Received an email yesterday from French Filmmaker Jérôme Genevray (and fan of my other blog thepeoples movies!) with this cool little short film/ trailer LE GREEN BOY & DIRTY GIRL which Jerome is hoping in the near future can be made into a full length feature film.
The movie stars Alysson Paradis (sister of Vanessa or sister in law to Johnny Depp), and Diane Dassigny both women well known actress in France and the trailer is backed with with some really cool music from French electro-punk group we are enfant terrible from Paris.
